BERKELEY - The Cal women's volleyball team's 2013 schedule features 16 matches that will be shown on the Pac-12 Networks and 16 contests against teams that appeared in the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
The Pac-12 Networks released its 2013 women's volleyball schedule Monday and the Bears will have 16 of their 20 conference matches televised. That includes their Pac-12 opener against Stanford on September 25 at Haas Pavilion.
Cal will host two tournaments during the nonconference portion of its schedule. The Cal Molten Classic on Aug. 30-31 will feature the Bears, New Mexico State, Nevada and UC Santa Barbara. New Mexico State won the Western Athletic Conference championship last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Three of the four teams in The Hilton Garden Inn Invitational Sept. 12-14 played in last season's NCAA Tourney. Along with Cal, Kansas State and Santa Clara also qualified for the postseason. Cal Poly, coached by former Cal assistant coach Sam Crosson, rounds out the field.
The Bears will also travel to the Bluejay Invitational at Creighton University on Sept. 6-7. Cal will play Creighton, Northern Colorado and South Florida. Both Creighton and Northern Colorado were NCAA participants.
All 10 of Cal's home conference matches will appear on the Pac-12 Networks. The Bears open the conference season at home against Stanford on September 25. Cal has four straight home matches against Oregon, Oregon State, USC and UCLA between Oct. 25 and Nov. 3. The Bears close the regular season at Stanford on Nov. 29.
The Pac-12 was once again arguably the top conference in the country last season, sending seven teams to the NCAA Tournament.
"We're very excited about the Pac-12 schedule and the number of matches we'll have on television, both home and away," Cal coach Rich Feller said. "We're very happy with our preseason schedule. We have three very competitive tournaments. The Pac-12, as always, will be super-competitive. We look forward to that."
Season-tickets for the 2013 season will go on sale on July 9. Prices are $75 for adults and $50 for seniors and children. Single-game tickets will be available for purchase later this summer.
The Bears return five starters from last year's team that advanced to their 11th straight NCAA Tournament. Cal also welcomes the No. 21 recruiting class in the country to Berkeley.
