NORMAN, Okla. – Seniors Brandon Hagy and Joël Stalter are listed on the first spring Palmer Cup Ranking released Wednesday for the 2014 event to take place June 26-28 at the Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey, England.

The top six golfers in the final ranking to be released later this spring from both the United States and Europe shall be among the 10 individuals from each group selected to compete in the 2014 Palmer Cup.

Using Golfstat’s NCAA Player Ranking as a base, the Palmer Cup Ranking awards bonus points for wins and high finishes, and a negative bonus for poor finishes. The ranking also contains a strength of schedule component.

Hagy is third on the Team USA list with a .9976 percentile, while Stalter is fourth on the Team Europe list at .9913.

Steve Desimone will be the head coach for the American team.

Stalter (Team Europe) played along with current and former Cal teammates Michael Weaver and Michael Kim in the 2013 Palmer Cup won 20.5-9.5 by Team USA last June.

The next 2014 Palmer Cup Ranking is scheduled to be released March 19.

Cal returns to action March 7-9 at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas. The Bears are the defending champion of the event.  Cal shares the No. 2 ranking in the nation in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches Pool, while Golfstat and Golfweek both have the Bears fourth.
