Wednesday, April 10
3 p.m. - No. 9/8 Cal vs. Saint Mary's College // Levine-Fricke Field (Berkeley)
Series Record with the Gaels: 49-0
Last Meeting with Saint Mary's: W, 9-3 on March 10, 2013
Coverage: GameTracker, Twitter (@CalSoftball)

A month to the day since their last meeting, the University of California and Saint Mary's College will go head-to-head at home on Levine-Fricke Field in Berkeley. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The Golden Bears and Gaels last met at the Fresno State Classic, where the Bears handed the Gaels a decisive 9-3 victory after coming back from a two-run deficit, thanks in part to a grand slam from sophomore Cheyenne Cordes.

In Wednesday's contest, Cal is looking to regain its momentum heading into an away series at UCLA after dropping a crucial Pac-12 series to then-No. 10/9 Oregon on Saturday and Sunday. The Bears split a doubleheader with the Ducks on Saturday, with Oregon taking game one of the series 5-1 while Cal claimed a 3-1 victory in game two. Oregon earned the series win with a 9-3 triumph on Sunday.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Bears after Wednesday's game as Cal returns to the diamond Thursday evening for the first game of the UCLA series in Los Angeles. The game will be televised live on ESPN2 starting at 8 p.m.

SCOUTING REPORT: SAINT MARY'S (12-25 overall, 4-8 Pacific Coast)

The Gaels are riding a five-game losing streak with a low .182 team batting average. Senior Megan Smith is Saint Mary's leading hitter with an average of .298, so Wednesday's game will be prime opportunity for the Bears to rest senior Jolene Henderson for the UCLA series and give sophomore Nikki Owens or freshman Nisa Ontiveros more experience in the circle. The Gaels will likely rely on both Lujane Mussadi (8-8) and Jessica Lemmon (4-9) during their time on defense. Mussadi leads the team with a 1.85 ERA, while Lemmon leads the Gaels in strikeouts with 50.
