Stewart took his first step toward qualifying for the NCAA national meet by winning his preliminary heat in 13.81 - the fourth-fastest time of the day. He will need to finish among the top 12 in Saturday's second round to advance to the NCAA Championships June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.

The Pac-12 champion in the 110 hurdles when he ran a PR 13.43, Stewart entered the regional meet as the No. 2 seed in the event.

Price took third in her 200-meter heat in 24.08 to move to the next round, as the top three in each of six heats plus the next six fastest times advanced. Earlier in the night, Price finished 22nd in the 100 meters with a time of 11.96 seconds.

Action was delayed approximately three hours during the afternoon due to a thunderstorm that produced lightning in the area. As a result, the men's hammer competition that will include Scott Esparza and Isaac Dan was moved from Friday to Saturday morning.

The meet concludes on Saturday with a number of Bears still participating. In addition to Stewart, Price, Esparza and Dan, Cal will have both the men's and women's 4x100-meter relays in action, with individuals in the men's 1500 meters (Jordan Locklear), women's 5000 meters (Kelsey Santisteban), men's triple jump (Hammed Suleman), women's shot put (Chioma Amaechi) and women's triple jump (Amanda Hunter).

On Thursday, the first day of the meet, both Suleman (long jump) and Malaina Payton (women's long jump) earned berths to NCAA nationals.
