SANTA CLARA, Calif. – California swimmers Missy Franklin and Kelly Naze posted second-place finishes in Friday’s finals of the Arena Grand Prix at Santa Clara held at the George F. Haines International Swim Center. The two Golden Bears are among several Cal swimmers competing in the meet, which began Thursday with the 1500-meter freestyle.
Franklin, who will begin her sophomore season at Cal in the fall, clocked a time of 54.51 to take second in the 100-meter freestyle on Friday. Naze, who recently completed her sophomore season in Berkeley, took second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.22.
Talented incoming freshman Cierra Runge, who had recorded the fastest qualifying time (4:09.86) in the 400-free heats, placed fourth in the final with a time of 4:08.01.

Competition continues through Sunday beginning with 9 a.m. PT prelims, followed by 5 p.m. PT finals. Tickets are required for each session and can be purchased at the Swim Center store during the meet.
Universal Sports Network will televise live coverage from the Arena Grand Prix at Santa Clara on Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Additionally, a live webcast of the entire meet will be streamed online Thursday through Sunday via USASwimming.org.
The Arena Grand Prix at Santa Clara is the sixth and final stop of USA Swimming’s 2013-14 Arena Grand Prix Series, which provides the nation’s best swimmers opportunity to face top-flight competition on U.S. soil.
