Tavoda Leads Cal Divers at Texas Invitational

Bears continue at competition through Saturday.

AUSTIN, Texas - Freshman Hayden Tavoda collected California’s best finish in the three-meter springboard prelim on Thursday in the University of Texas Diving Invitational, placing 12th with a score of 268.55 at Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Tavoda’s best dive of the round was a reverse 2 ½ somersault tuck, which scored her 51.80 points.

Teammates Sara-lina Boushakra, Kahley Rowell and Anne Kastler finished just behind Tavoda, in 13th, 14th and 15th place, respectively. Boushakra notched a score of 258.15, Rowell finished with 256.55, and Kastler with 244.80. With just the top eight divers advancing, none of the Golden Bears will compete in the three-meter final.

The three-day meet continues with the one-meter springboard starting at 12:30 p.m. on Friday and ends with the platform competition on Saturday.
