BERKELEY – The Cal football team returned to the field for their 14th and 15th practices of 2014 training camp Friday on Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium. The two workouts Friday marked the third time the Golden Bears have had a double day this week with a special teams session in the morning and a full team workout in the afternoon.
A few of the notes and highlights from the workouts included ...
- The Bears mainly worked against scout teams although a 30-yard run by Patrick Laird during the second and final drive highlighted the full 11-on-11 sessions. Vic Enwere capped the drive with a three-yard touchdown run.
- Among the visitors at Friday workouts were Italian National Team American Football head coach John Mackovic and a group of other coaches visiting Cal from the Italian Federation of American Football.
Cal’s next open practice is scheduled for Monday (3:30 – 6 p.m.) when the Golden Bears enter their third and final week of training camp that concludes with Golden Bear Day presented by Bug Zappers Pest Control at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 23 (2-4 p.m. PT). The Bears open the 2014 campaign Aug. 30 at Northwestern and will host six games on Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium this season, starting with the home opener Sept. 6 vs. Sacramento State.
