Golden Bears begin second week of 2014 training camp.

BERKELEY – The Cal football team began its second week of 2014 training camp with its first two-a-day practices that were the team’s eighth and ninth workouts on Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium since reporting for training camp on August 3. Highlights and notes from the practices in shoulder pads only included …

  • An hour-long special teams only workout in the morning that special teams coordinator likened to “gold” in terms of value during post-practice comments as he talked about getting a chance to “look at a lot of people”
  • An afternoon practice that had a few highlights during the final team session including a tackle for loss by Jalen Jefferson on the first play and a long run from Daniel Lasco later in the session

Cal’s next practice on Tuesday (3:30 – 6 p.m. PT) will be open to the public with the team’s training camp sessions continuing through Golden Bear Day presented by Bug Zappers Pest Control at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 23 (2-4 p.m. PT). The Golden Bears open the 2014 campaign Aug. 30 at Northwestern and will host six games on Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium this season, starting with the home opener Sept. 6 vs. Sacramento State. In addition, Cal will play Oregon on Friday, Oct. 24 at Levi's® Stadium in Santa Clara.
