CARSON, Calif. – Former Cal placekicker Vincenzo D’Amato contributed a field goal and two extra points for the American team in a 31-17 loss to the National squad Saturday in the third annual NFLPA Collegiate Bowl presented by Panini played at the StubHub Center.
D’Amato made both of his extra-point tries in the first half with the teams tied at the break, 14-14. He also missed a 39-yard field attempt on the final play of the opening period.
In the second half, D’Amato had the only points for the American squad on a 35-yard field goal with 9:28 remaining in the fourth quarter.
D’Amato also kicked off four times for an average of 61.8 yards per kick.
“Playing in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl was a great experience throughout the entire week,” D’Amato said. “I met a lot of great people and got a lot of information from the entire staff.”
D’Amato’s appearance was the first of two scheduled for former Cal players in 2014 collegiate postseason all-star games. Deandre Coleman is slated to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl next Saturday, Jan. 25 (3 p.m. CT/1 p.m. PT., NFL Network) at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.
