Kruggel, Elmitt Named to All-West Team

BERKELEY - Sophomore midfielder Lara Kruggel was named to the 2012 Longstreth / NFHCA Division I All-West First Team. Kruggel led the Golden Bears this year with 18 goals and 44 points and was second on the team with eight assists. She was previously named the NorPac West Offensive Player of the Year. Junior Shannon Elmitt was named to the All-West second team for the second year in a row.

After being named to the All-West second team last year, Kruggel was the most consistent offensive weapon on the Golden Bears this year and her abilities did not go unnoticed by opposing teams. She finised the season 11th in the nation in points per game at 2.20. She was tied for eighth in goals per game at .90. She led the NorPac conference in both categories.

Kruggel had an historic season as a Golden Bear in her sophomore season. Her 18 goals and 44 points are both fifth on Cal's all time single season records list. For her career, Kruggel is now tied for eighth on the all-time list with 26 goals. She is tenth on the all-time points list with 67.

Junior midfielder Shannon Elmitt was named to the All-West Second Team and was the assist leader on the Bears this season. She tallied nine assists on the season and recorded .50 assists per game, a mark good for a tie for 35th in the nation. Her 27 career assists rank her sevent on Cal's all-time list. She also scored two goals on the season.
