While she only tallied one goal to start the season, Onumonu’s leadership and teamwork made the difference in both games. She drew what was ultimately the game-winning penalty against Santa Clara. It was the second penalty kick of the day awarded to Onumonu after drawing the first about 10 minutes in. Onumonu helped make the connection on a corner kick at the 64th minute from Kelly Fitzgerald, which Grace Leer headed toward, who Onumonu passed it on to Annia Mejia for the final connection to Samantha Witteman for the goal. Against San Francisco, Onumonu scored Cal’s third goal at the 79th minute.

The Golden Bears continue the season at the University of San Francisco Tournament this weekend, where they will meet LIU Brooklyn Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Portland State Sunday at noon. Both games will be played at Negoesco Stadium.
