HIDALGO, Mexico – Former National Player of the Year Carli Lloyd was once again Team USA’s starting setter as the Americans swept Argentina 25-20, 25-14, 25-20 during the second day of pool play at the Pan-American Cup on Thursday.
Lloyd, a three-time All-American at Cal who led the Bears to two appearances in the Final Four, led the United States’ offense to a .345 hitting percentage and was credited with 18 running sets.
Lloyd is making her third appearance in the Pan-Am Cup for the United States. She was on the American team that took bronze in 2011 and gold in 2012.
Team USA continues pool play Friday against Puerto Rico.
