Top Instruction at Evans Diamond
By Cal Athletics on Tue, June 10, 2014

BERKELEY - With only six days until the opening camp (June 16-19), youth baseball players are invited to come join the winning tradition of the California Golden Bears' baseball program by attending this year's Summer Camps, in partnership with US Sports Camps (operator of Nike Summer Camps), at Evans Diamond. Gorgeous weather, superb instruction and great competition make this a wonderful baseball camp experience. Our goal is for every camper to take their game to the next level, create lasting friendships, and have a good time.

This year, Cal baseball is proudly partnering with US Sports Camps for its summer programming. These are the same camps as in past years, with the same structure and same great coaching staff. Run by Bears' head coach David Esquer, this year's coaching staff bring both collegiate and professional playing and coaching experience to the plate.

Cal is offering three different camps: Baseball School, Baseball Games Camp, and the Advanced Camp. At the NIKE Baseball School, all aspects of the game are covered - individual position instruction as well as hitting, base running, situation drills, and game play.

The Games Camp will include an instructional portion in the morning followed by an emphasis on games and situation drills in the afternoon. Campers will be divided up by age and ability and placed on teams to compete, and Cal staff members will halt game play to offer instruction further understanding of situations.

The advanced camp is for players looking to play high school baseball move up on the high school squad. High school workouts, drills and instruction takes place during this program including discussions on playing in baseball at the next level and what it takes to be a competitive student athlete.

Evans Diamond, the home of the Bear's baseball team, will play host to all camps. Campers will learn and train in the new, state of the art batting cage facilities. The latest equipment is used to provide campers with a safe and fun camp experience.

Each camp has the option for a full day or half day program. Registration is now open, please visit Nike Baseball Camps to sign up as sessions are filling quickly.
