BERKELEY – The California men’s basketball program has announced its non-conference schedule for the 2014-15 season. Highlighted by a visit from 2014 Final Four participant Wisconsin in December, the Golden Bears will host nine regular-season non-conference contests at Haas Pavilion.
The Cuonzo Martin era at Cal begins Friday, Nov. 14 as the Bears play their first of four games in the 2K Sports Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project against an opponent yet to be announced. Cal will also play an unnamed opponent in the tournament’s regional rounds on Sunday, Nov. 16 in Berkeley, before traveling to Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y. for the championship rounds of the 2K Sports Classic. In New York, the Bears will match up against either Syracuse, Texas or Iowa in games on Thursday, Nov. 20 and Friday, Nov. 21. Opponents and game times for the 2K Sports Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project will be announced by the tournament committee in July.
Cal rounds out the month of November at home against Cal Poly (Nov. 26) and on the road at Fresno State (Nov. 30). The Bears, who earned a 67-56 victory over Fresno State this past season, will be making their first trip to Fresno, Calif. since Dec. 7, 1977.
The December slate opens with Montana at Haas Pavilion on Dec. 3, as the Bears and Grizzlies meet for the first time since 1930.
For the first time in seven years, Cal will travel to Reno, Nev. to face Nevada at the Lawlor Events Center on Dec. 7. The Bears produced their second-highest point total of the year in a 92-84 victory over the WolfPack in Berkeley this past season.
A five-game homestand closes the calendar year, highlighted by a visit from Wisconsin on Monday, Dec. 22. Cal also welcomes Wyoming (Dec. 10), Princeton (Dec. 13), Eastern Washington (Dec. 19) and CSU Bakersfield (Dec. 28) to Haas Pavilion prior to beginning the conference slate in early January.
The Pac-12 will announce the Bears’ 18-game league slate at a later date.
Cal will also host an exhibition game during the first week of November against an opponent yet to be determined. All game times will be announced once television selections are finalized in the fall.
