BERKELEY - Cal was limited to one hit, and despite sophomore right-hander Ryan Mason going 8.0 innings, the Golden Bears lost to No. 2-ranked Oregon State, 5-0, Sunday at Evans Diamond.

Cal (19-24, 7-14) ended up losing all three games of the series (10-4, 9-3 in 10 innings, 5-0) against the highly-ranked Beavers (34-8, 17-4).

On Sunday, OSU's Jace Fry improved his record to 9-1 by going 9.0 innings and only yielding a lead-off single to the Bear's senior left fielder Vince Bruno in the third inning. Fry had only one walk and struck out six batters.

Mason suffered his first loss of the season (4-1), going 8.0 innings with seven hits, five runs, four earned runs, three walks and three strikeouts. The Beavers scored all their runs in the first and third innings. In the first inning OSU's Michael Conforto hit a two-run homer to right field, and in the third inning Conforto had an RBI double and Dylan Davis a two-run single.

Cal will next venture to southern California for a Pac-12 series at USC, May 9-11 at Dedeaux Field. The Trojans are coached by former Bear pitching coach Dan Hubbs.
