BERKELEY – The California Golden Bears Track & Field team is in action this Sunday at the 19th Annual Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational at Cobb Track and Angell Field in Stanford, Calif. The Payton Jordan is the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Meet of the Week. Field events will begin at 12:00 p.m. PT with the hammer throw and running events will begin at 3:44 p.m. with the women’s 100-meters
The Bears are coming off of a successful Brutus Hamilton Open & Challenge weekend, where the men finished first in their dual meets against New Mexico, Utah State and Oklahoma, while the women finished second. Cal’s men’s team appears to have sewn up the No. 1 spot in the Track & Field News Dual Meet Rankings with a perfect 9-0 record. This marks the first time since 1993 that the Bears men’s team finished with an unblemished record.
California is expected to have competitors in the men’s and women’s hammer, women’s pole vault, men’s and women’s discus, women’s triple jump, women’s long jump, both the men’s and women’s shot put, the men’s and women’s 3000-meter steeplechase, women’s 1500-meters, men’s and women’s 800-meters, and both the men’s and women’s 5000-meters.
