BERKELEY – The California Golden Bears track & field team will have representatives at three separate meets beginning on Friday. A large contingent of Bears will be competing in the annual Tri-Meet with Michigan and Virginia, hosted this year in Charlottesville, Va. by the Cavaliers on Saturday. Others will be competing across the bay at the Stanford Invitational, while other distance-runners will be participating in the San Francisco State Distance Carnival beginning on Friday.
35 Golden Bears will be in Charlottesville for the Tri-Meet and in Saturday's meet, points will be awarded for first through sixth place in individual events and first through third in relays. The Cal men won the meet last year in Berkeley, while the women finished second.
The remainder of the team will be competing in San Francisco at Cox Stadium for the SF State Distance Carnival, while others will be at the Stanford Invitational at Cobb Track and Angell Field..
