BERKELEY - The California women's lacrosse team fell to Oregon, 16-7, Thursday night at Kabam Field at Memorial Stadium. The Golden Bears fell to 2-7 on the season and 1-3 in MPSF contests. Freshman Bella Huther scored twice for Cal.
In addition to Huther's two goals, Cal also got goals from Lizz Lavie, Amelia Burke, Paige Gasparino, Caroline Schlegel and Michaela Bird. Gaby Christman notched two assists, and Nicole Beck notched one, as well. Christman also notched four ground balls, three draws and three caused turnovers against the Ducks.
Oregon took control of the game from the start, scoring four of the first five goals. The Ducks built their lead up to as many as nine on two separate occasions. In the second half, the smallest deficit for Cal was seven goals.
Huther and Christman remain atop Cal's scoring leaderboard with 23 points each.
The Bears will hope to snap their losing skid when they welcome USC on Sunday, April 6, at 1 p.m. at Kabam Field. Cal will honor its seniors for Senior Day prior to the start of the game, as well as honoring players from the past with a halftime ceremony to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of the program.
