BERKELEY – California’s Brittany Boyd has been named one of four WBCA All-Region VIII honorees and will now be placed into consideration for WBCA All-America honors.

Boyd joins Cassie Harberts (USC), Chiney Ogwumike (Stanford) and Michelle Plouffe (Utah) as All-Region VIII selections. Of 52 candidates across the country’s eight regions, the selection committee will select a 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches’ All-America Team.

Boyd, one of five finalists for the Nancy Lieberman Award for the top point guard in the nation, has also been a candidate for the Wade Trophy, Wooden Award, Dawn Staley Award and Naismith Trophy this season. She finished her junior year averaging 14.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.9 steals per game for the Golden Bears. A First Team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Defensive team selection by the coaches and media, she was one of three players in the NCAA this season to average at least 14 points, six rebounds and six assisters per game.

In her last regular season game, Boyd registered just the second triple-double in California history and the 18th in Pac-12 history when she put up 13 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists against Washington State. In the NCAA Tournament First Round game against Fordham, Boyd set a California single-game record for postseason play with 10 assists against the Rams.

The 2014 WBCA Division I Coaches’ All-America Team will be announced at 1:10 p.m. CT Saturday April 5, during NCAA® Women’s Final Four® Super Saturday festivities in Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
