What an exciting week for Cal polo! Not only did we win our first conference game against San Jose on Saturday, but your Cal Bears also swept the MPSF weekly awards!

Roser Tarrago won MPSF/KAP 7 Player of the Week. This is her second time winning a weekly award and definitely deserves it after her strong showing on Saturday. Scoring six goals is not simple, but she definitely made this amazing feat look easy! Freshman goalie Madeline Trabucco won her first weekly honor for her efforts during the game. She was the MPSF/ KAP 7 Newcomer of the week! She had an amazing 13 saves during our game against San Jose. With the addition of Mady winning this week, Cal now has four players who have won an award this season. A pretty impressive stat if you ask me. It shows how skilled this team is all-around! Congratulations to Ru and Mady!

The Vowell family also surprised the team after the game with an impressive BBQ lunch. I know that it may seem like I constantly write about the meals the team eats, but food is the most important aspect in our lives. I know that it is said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but I strongly believe that for this team, it is actually food. The feast was much appreciated. Thank you, Vowell Family!

For those of you in the Berkeley area, hopefully you had the chance to read the Daily Californian on Thursday, March 6th. Cal water polo’s own Dora Antal was featured for a story that ran on the back page. I personally thought it was front-page material, but they unfortunately didn’t ask me my opinion. For those of you who didn’t see it, don’t worry! Just follow this link to see it online.

For those fans who have been reading the blog since the beginning, you know that the team was extremely excited for the start of the show, “The Bachelor.” I thought that I should give you an update and let you know that the show finished this past Monday. I can’t say that the team is very disappointed with its conclusion; honestly it became quite painful to watch week after week. But, we still have faith that the new bachelorette, Andi, will make for exciting television! The new season starts on May 19th. Let the countdown begin (I should have a deal with ABC for all of these shoutouts!)!

See you all this weekend when we play at USC on Saturday! If you can’t be there, make sure to catch the game on the Pac-12 Networks! GO BEARS!
