BERKELEY – Senior Kahley Rowell and sophomores Anne Kastler and Sara-Lina Boushakra will all be vying for spots at the NCAA Championships when they compete at the Zone E diving meet Thursday through Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The women’s 1-meter springboard competition will be held Thursday, with 3-meter on Friday and platform Saturday on the Air Force Academy campus. Zone E includes schools from the Pac-12 and other western states, and qualifying divers from each event will advance to the NCAA women’s swimming & diving meet, which will be held March 20-22 in Minneapolis.
Both Rowell and Kastler are coming off career-best performances at the recent Pac-12 Championships. Rowell took second on platform, a step up from her third-place finish in 2013 and fifth-place result in 2012. Kastler, meanwhile, set a school record with 334.15 during her fourth-place showing on 3-meter.
In addition, Rowell was 14th on 1-meter and ninth on 3-meter at the conference meet. Kastler took 12th on 1-meter and 13th on platform, with Boushakra 22nd on platform and 24th on 3-meter.
Rowell is a two-time All-American for the Bears on the platform, having placed fifth in 2012 and eighth last year.
