SAN DIEGO - Due to rain in San Diego, Cal Baseball’s schedule for the University of San Diego Tournament has been adjusted. The Golden Bears will now play Baylor at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 at Fowler Park. Cal will then play two games on Sunday, facing UNC Wilmington at 3 p.m. and host San Diego at 7 p.m.
At this time, Cal is still scheduled to play San Diego again on Monday, March 3 at 3 p.m. at Fowler Park. The Bears then return home to host Bay Area rival Stanford on Tuesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. at Evans Diamond (shown on the Pac-12 Networks).
Cal is off to a 5-2 start after going 2-2 in the season-opening series versus Texas and sweeping through the Tiger Classic at Auburn last weekend (winning 3-0 over East Tennessee State, 5-0 over host Auburn, 8-3 over Arkansas Pine Bluff). The Bears’ pitching staff, led by freshman right-hander Daulton Jefferies (2-0, 0.00 ERA, two shutouts and 12 strikeouts in 13.0 innings), tops the Pac-12 with a 1.86 team ERA. Offensively, Cal is led by senior left fielder Vince Bruno, who is batting .471, third-best in the Pac-12.
