► CAL AT JOHN BURNS INTERCOLLEGIATE WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY
Cal (No. 2 Golfweek, No. 3 Golf World/Nike, No. 4 Golfstat) is back in action this Wednesday-Friday, Feb. 19-21 at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate hosted by Hawai’i at the par-72, 6,991-yard Wailua Golf Course. The event, now in its 38th edition, returns to Kaua’i for the first time since 1978, where it was played in the second year of the tournament. The 16 teams in the field will play 18 holes of the 54-hole stroke-play each of the event’s three days. Each team will field five players with the top four scores each day counting towards the team’s total. The first tee times from the first and 10th holes begin each of the first two days of the event at 10 a.m. PT/8 a.m. HT, while Friday’s third round is a shotgun start beginning at 10:30 a.m. PT/8:30 a.m HT. Cal players will start from the first hole Wednesday (10 a.m. PT/8 a.m. HT) and from the 10th hole Thursday (11 a.m. PT/9 a.m. HT), playing in fouresomes along with one player each from Hawai’i, Texas El Paso and UNLV. Tee times and pairings for Friday’s third-round shotgun start will be determined following the end of the first two rounds of action.

► CAL LOOKING FOR RECORD FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN AT JOHN A. BURNS INTERCOLLEGIATE
Cal is the three-time defending champion of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate and looking to set a new tournament record with a fourth straight victory that the Golden Bears currently co-hold along with Oklahoma State (1993-95). Then top-ranked Cal won the 2013 event by 27 strokes over second-place No. 4 New Mexico in what was a milestone 50th career victory for head coach Steve Desimone, while Joël Stalter also ran away from the field for an eight-shot win.
