BERKELEY - Missy Franklin was named the Pac-12 Swimmer of the Meet and earned Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honors after leading the Golden Bears to the conference championship over the weekend.
Franklin won all three of her individual events - 100, 200 and 500 free - in meet-record times and was a member of three victorious relays (400 and 800 free relay, 400 medley relay). She captured the 100 free in 47.17, the 200 free in 1:42.29 and the 500 free in 4:35.73.
Earlier in the week, Franklin was named one of six finalists for the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year, with the winner announced March 26.
This is Franklin’s second Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season, previously winning on December 9.
