BERKELEY, Calif. -- Junior guard Tyrone Wallace earned his first Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor after averaging 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals to lead California to a pair of victories this past week.
In the Bears’ game against Princeton on Saturday, Cal trailed by nine points at the half. In Wednesday’s game against Wyoming, Wallace helped Cal erase a halftime deficit with 12 of his 17 points and five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals in the second half alone to help led Cal to the win. With Cal holding a two-point lead and under 30 seconds left,, Wallace came up with a big steal and finished with the fastbreak dunk on the other end to give the Bears a four-point lead with just 23 seconds left. During Cal’s current six-game winning streak, Wallace has averaged 21.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists (all team-highs).
