WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – California senior guard Justin Cobbs was voted the Pac-12 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.  Cobbs averaged 20.0 points and 5.0 assists in Cal’s two games this week.

Cobbs led Cal in the upset victory over No. 1 Arizona on Saturday with a game-high 19 points and seven assists against the Wildcats. Tied at 58-58, Cobbs hit the game-winning shot with one second left, connecting on a long, fade-away jumper over Wildcat center Kaleb Tarzewski to seal the win. He scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half against Arizona, including all 12 of Cal’s points in the final 11 minutes of the game.

In the setback to Arizona State on Wednesday, Cobbs scored 21 points and had three steals to go along with three assists. Cobbs played 73 of a possible 85 minutes over the two games.

With his point total for the week, Cobbs moved into 19th on Cal’s all-time scoring list with 1,269 career points in his third season with the Golden Bears. With his assist total for the week, the Pac-12’s active career assist leader sits at fifth place on Cal’s all-time assist chart with 460 in 89 career games.

The conference weekly honor is the fifth of Cobbs’ career and second this season. He is the second Golden Bear to receive weekly recognition this season. Sophomore Tyrone Wallace was named the league’s player of the week on Nov. 11, 2013. Cobbs is California’s 51st conference player of the week selection all-time.

Cal, now 15-7 overall and 6-3 in the Pac-12, hosts Stanford at 6 p.m. (PT) on Wednesday at Haas Pavilion.
