BERKELEY – Freshman Dora Antal scored three times and Cal’s women’s water polo team had five players score their first career goals in a 12-4 victory over Pacific on Saturday in the season-opening Cal Speedo Cup at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
Antal, who played on Hungary’s 2012 Olympic Team that advanced to the Bronze Medal match in London, got on the board at the 3:04 mark of the second quarter. She added two more goals in the third period, when the Bears outscored the Tigers 5-0 to take a commanding 10-3 advantage.
Fellow freshmen Anna Illes and Stefanie Mutafyan also found the back of the net for Cal, which trailed 2-1 after the first quarter but outscored Pacific 11-2 the rest of the way.
Freshman goalkeeper Madeline Trabucco made three saves in her college debut while sophomores Molly Quinn and Brooke Vowell each scored her first career goal. Other players that got into their first games at Cal included freshmen Emily Loughlin and Genevieve Weed as well as sophomore Meagan Smith.
