Hey Cal Fans! This past weekend we played Washington and Washington State at Haas Pavilion. After a heartbreaking loss to Washington in five on Friday night, we lost again to Washington State on Sunday. Needless to say, the team was very frustrated, especially Joan and I who also had our Senior Day on Sunday. Although we are upset, we are even more determined for our match today against Arizona State.
This past Sunday was Senior Day and after three years of watching my friends and teammates play their final games in Haas Pavilion, it was my turn. Even though I wasn’t able to play (due to an abdominal injury), the girls and coaches made my day extremely special. The morning started with a team breakfast, followed by the locker room reveal. Joan and I were very surprised at the amazing job the team did to decorate our lockers. There were gold and blue streamers and balloons everywhere and multiple sentimental gifts for each of us. Also, our teammates printed out pictures that best described our personalities on the team. Joan’s locker was full of images from The Godfather (due to her skills in the Mafia game) while mine was covered in images of Texas and Starbucks. In addition to the decorations, Sarah Cole made us both personalized cookie cakes that were very impressive and delicious. Katie, Alyssa, and Jenelle were in charge of the balloons and streamers and also made us adorable hats with our names on them. There were dozens of other surprises, but out of all of them the most special for me was a poster with notes from all my teammates. All of the messages will serve as a great memory of the amazing group of people I have been lucky enough to call my teammates this season.
In the final week of Pac-12s, we play ASU tonight and Stanford on Friday. Hopefully we can end the regular season on a positive note, and are already looking forward to the Selection Show on Sunday! Go Bears!
