Rowell Takes 3rd On Platform At Texas Meet

AUSTIN, Texas - California junior Kahley Rowell finished 3rd in the 10-meter platform final on Saturday at the University of Texas Diving Invitational. Rowell, the two-time All-American in this event, recorded a score of 287.20. Her best dive of the round was her first dive, a Back 2 ½ Somersault 1 ½ Twist Pike, which earned her 72.00 points.

Sohopmore teammates Anne Kastler and Sara-Lina Boushakra also competed in the 10-meter platform, placing 8th and 9th, respectively. Kastler finished with 234.80 points, while Boushakra recorded a final score of 228.40.

Texas freshman Murphy Bromberg, who was the platform champion at the AT&T National Diving Championships last August, won the event with 359.30 points. With Bromberg’s win, the Longhorns completed a sweep of the three-day meet.

In the one-meter springboard competition one day earlier, Kastler recorded Cal's best finish. The Bethesda, Md., native took seventh place in the final with a score of 327.15. In the preliminary round, Kastler posted a score of 281.15 to place 8th, with Rowell taking 13th (257.40), Boushakra finishing 15th (246.60), and California freshman Hayden Tavoda placing 16th (240.60).

On Nov. 21, the first day of the meet, Tavoda recorded the Bears’ best finish in the three-meter springboard prelim, placing 12th with a score of 268.55. Teammates Boushakra took 13th (258.15), Rowell placed 14th (256.55) and Kastler took 15th (244.80) in the preliminary round.
