WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – California sophomore guard Tyrone Wallace was named the Pac-12 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Wallace, in his second season as a starter, scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Golden Bears (1-0) to an 83-64 season-opening victory over Coppin State this past Friday at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley. Wallace also recorded seven assists, six rebounds, two steals and a block in 34 minutes of action. He was 7-of-14 from the field and recorded three of Cal's nine three-pointers in the contest.

The honor was the first of Wallace’s career and the first Golden Bear to receive weekly recognition since teammate Justin Cobbs was named the conference’s player of the week on Feb. 25 of last season. Wallace is California’s 50th conference player of the week selection all-time.

Cal continues its four-game season-opening homestand on Tuesday, Nov. 12, when the Bears face Denver at 8 p.m. (PT). The game will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks with radio coverage in the Bay Area on KGO 810 AM and online through the TuneIn app on
