Kenny Lawler CFPA Honorable Mention Wide Receiver of the Week
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Freshman Kenny Lawler was named an honorable mention Wide Receiver Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards of the Week on Monday.
Lawler became the first Cal player since DeSean Jackson vs. Minnesota in 2006 to catch three touchdowns in a game last Saturday in a 33-28 defeat at home to Arizona. The touchdown catches were the first three of Lawler's career and tied for the most scoring grabs by a Pac-12 player in 2013.
Lawler’s three-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter was a one-handed grab with his left hand that was ranked the No. 8 play of the day by ESPN. He also hauled in a 17-yarder in the second quarter and just kept his feet in on a career-long 29-yarder with 1:42 remaining in the game that brought the Bears within a single TD of victory. Lawler finished the game with a career-high-tying six catches for a career-high 72 yards.
Lawler has 22 catches for 185 yards and three touchdowns on the season.
