Clark and Leininger Named Jonathan & Judy Hoff Scholar-Athletes of the Week
BERKELEY – Senior defensive tackle Austin Clark and sophomore punter Cole Leininger have been named the Jonathan & Judy Hoff Football Scholar-Athletes of the Week head coach Sonny Dykes announced Thursday.
“It means a lot to me because academics are of the utmost importance at this prestigious university,” Clark said. “I will do whatever it takes to help lead the way on and off the field.”
“I am honored to be recognized for my academic work,” Leininger said. “It’s crucial that we all strive to succeed both on the field and in the classroom. We have terrific coaches and support staff that encourage us to do both.”
Each week two Cal football players earn the honor that recognizes student-athletes for an academic skill that has developed through practice, a study habit that has formed into an effective routine, a positive measured outcome that has been achieved through a course assignment or exam, and/or a leadership trait that has been portrayed through academics.
