Hey Cal Fans! This past week we traveled up north to play University of Washington and Washington State. After a disappointing loss against Washington on Wednesday night, the team was able to bounce back with a great win against the Cougars in Pullman! Since we played Wednesday and Saturday, we had two full days in between our matches to sightsee, practice, and rest.
On Thursday, we got to sleep in and spent the rest of the morning exploring University Village in Seattle and grabbing coffee and cookies from our favorite bakery in Seattle. At 12 o’clock, we boarded the bus and headed to the Chihuly Glass and Garden Museum. It was an incredible exhibit showcasing the artist’s famous glass sculptures. My favorite part was the glass ceiling, made up of colorful blown glass pieces, all laid atop a clear ceiling. The whole team really enjoyed our cultural experience and the chance to get away from the usual gym-hotel-gym routine.
After walking through the museum and the gardens, a group of us made our way up to the top of Seattle’s famous Space Needle. At the top, we were able to see a complete view of the city; made even better by the sunny weather we were lucky enough to have the entire trip. Once we made our way back down the glass elevator, the team loaded the bus and headed to the airport to fly to Pullman.
This week, we will play the University of Oregon on Friday night and Oregon State on Sunday. The team is really excited to be back in Haas and has been working hard all week in hopes of getting both wins this weekend. Go Bears!
