This week we moved to 3-3 (in conference) with a win versus Colorado and a hard loss against Utah. Although there were plenty of good things to take away from this week’s games and practices, we still have much room for improvement. Luckily, we still have seven more weeks of Pac-12 play to perfect our game! The loss against Utah was a good reminder that every night in the Pac-12 is a challenge and should be approached as such. I am fully confident that the Bears will bounce back from our loss on Sunday with a great match against the University of Washington on Wednesday.
This week’s schedule was somewhat strange as we played on Wednesday and Sunday night. After our win versus Colorado, we had Thursday practice off and were able to sleep in, hang out, and get ahead on schoolwork. Friday and Saturday comprised of normal practices and preparations for Sunday's game against Utah. Saturday was Mary’s birthday, and the entire week consisted of daily reminders of the upcoming special day. On Friday, a few of us went to Hana Japan to celebrate, where we enjoyed yummy food and an impressive show. My sister also made the trip out from Dallas and we had a great time exploring the Marina in San Francisco on Saturday. Overall, it was a fun week and a nice change to our normal schedule.
The whole team is super excited for our road trip to Washington this week! Although we are missing four days of school (during midterms), it will be nice to be separated from the normal distractions and fully focused on volleyball and school. Hopefully in the five days we are there we get to do a few fun things outside the gym! Go Bears!
