MORAGA, Calif. – California split its fortunes on Saturday at the Saint Mary’s Invitational, with junior Cecilia Estlander losing in the Red Singles main draw and senior Kelly Chui winning in the Red Singles back draw at Korth Tennis Complex.
Playing against the Gaels’ Catherine Leduc, Estlander lost, 7-6(5), 6-2. Chui won twice to reach the consolation bracket’s semifinals, beating LMU’s Ellie Grossman, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(6), in the opening round of 16 and topping Stanford’s Amelia Herring, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0(2). Chui faces the Gaels’ Audrey Leitz at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
