BERKELEY – Layshia Clarendon went 2-for-3 from the field and scored five points as she and the Indiana Fever defeated the Chicago Sky 85-72 in Game One of the WNBA Eastern Conference Semifinals at AllState Arena in Rosemont, Ill.
Clarendon added three assists in 16 minutes of action in her first WNBA Playoffs game. She was 1-for-1 from the 3-point line as well.
The Fever, seeded fourth in the Eastern Conference, took their first double-digit lead of the game with 6:29 left in the first half when Clarendon hit a 3-pointer from the right corner, giving Indiana a 37-26 lead. The Fever led by as many as 19 in the game and didn’t allow the Sky to get closer than 12 points over the final quarter and a half.
Game Two is scheduled for Sunday in Indianapolis.
