Kyle McRae, Associate Athletic Communications Director (lead football contact)
Tim Miguel, Assistant Athletic Communications Director (secondary football contact)
Herb Benenson, Assistant AD/Communications
The University of California Athletic Communications Office will issue working press credentials to accredited members of the media under the guidelines listed below. These priorities are designed to achieve efficient use of limited space availability and to provide a professional and safe working environment. All requests for credentials will be accommodated to the best of our ability.
Preference will be given to those media that cover all California games during the course of the season, followed by those that cover all home games. Due to limited space and to ensure compliance of NCAA guidelines, no credentials will be issued to freelance writers or photographers without a specific assignment received in writing by the assigning organization.
- Originating radio and television personnel involved in a live television or radio broadcast of the game.
- Daily newspapers, wire services and regional and national publications that regularly and substantially cover Cal Athletics or are assigned to cover the game.
- Non-originating radio and television personnel producing reports on the game. Only stations with full-time sports personnel that regularly cover athletic events or reporters for national networks (such as ESPN Radio or Fox Sports Radio) will be considered.
- Officially recognized University of California publications and electronic media that regularly cover Cal Athletics.
- Media approved by the visiting team's media relations office.
- Other than the official websites for the competing teams, credentials will only be issued to websites that are affiliated with regional or national news-gathering organizations or have demonstrated professional standards covering athletic events using journalistic standards.
- Non-daily media assigned to cover the game. Personnel must be full-time staff members.
- Photo passes will be issued only to accredited photographers on assignment for an approved media organization based on the guidelines above.
- Non-student media assigned to cover Cal for "hometown" features.
- The University of California will not issue credentials to representatives of organizations that regularly publish gambling information, such as "tout sheets" or "tip sheets."
All passes and credentials are non-transferable and are subject to immediate revocation if transferred to any other person, including non-working members of the media organization. No credentials will be issued to individuals under the age of 18.
Please direct all requests/questions for media, photo and parking credentials to Cal home games to Herb Benenson (email@example.com, C: 510-334-0791; W: 510-642-0515) through Athletic Communications at 349 Haas Pavilion, University of California, Berkeley, CA 94720. Only media who cover the Bears on a regular basis will be considered for season credentials.
All single-game requests should be made in writing at least one week prior to the game for which the credential is requested. No credential requests will be considered after 5 p.m. Thursday of game week. Requests for media covering a visiting team should be made through the opposing school's Sports Information Director. Credentials will be held in Media Will Call at Memorial Stadium (gate 5) the day of the game unless other arrangements are made. Media Will Call opens at least 6.5 hours before kickoff.
Parking at Cal is always at a premium and visitors are encouraged to use public transportation. The Downtown Berkeley BART station is located two blocks west of campus, in close proximity to Haas Pavilion, Edwards Track/Goldman Field, the Hellman Tennis Courts and Spieker Aquatics Complex. Hourly guest parking is available in the Stadium Parking Garage immediately north of Memorial Stadium, Witter Lot above the stadium along Centennial Drive, at the Underhill Garage at the corner of College Avenue and Channing Way, and in the RSF Garage along Bancroft Way adjacent to Haas Pavilion.
For media covering Cal football during the week (non-gamedays), the best options are the Witter Lot and the Underhill Garage. Media may also use public street parking along Prospect Street, Channing Way or Warring Street at the south end of Memorial Stadium. Be sure to pay attention to city parking limitations (often 2 hours on all days except Sunday).
Football gameday parking is located in the Underhill Garage. Entrances are off either Channing Way or Haste Street, just west of College Avenue. The lot is about four blocks from Memorial Stadium. Media can either take the short walk to the media gate (Gate 5) or use a media shuttle that begins running three hours before game time. A shuttle is also available from Memorial Stadium postgame. Parking passes cannot be left at will call on gamedays and must be picked up or mailed in advance.
Television broadcast crews should contact Herb Benenson in the Cal Athletic Communications Office (firstname.lastname@example.org, C: 510-334-0791; W: 510-642-0515) for parking arrangements for football games. Passes can be made available in the Underhill Garage on gamedays, while spaces on set days must be ordered in advance by sending in the Special Event Parking Arrangements form found on the university's website as far in advance as possible.
Media Will Call
The Media Will Call booth is located at Gate 5 on the southwest corner of California Memorial Stadium adjacent to the International House. It will open four hours before kickoff and remains open through the conclusion of the first quarter. Identification is required to pick up credentials or tickets. Parking passes cannot be left at will call.

Use Conditions for Media Credentials at University of California Athletic Events
A working credential ("Credential") is issued as a courtesy to an accredited agency (the "Agency") for the sole purpose of providing stadium or venue access to an individual representative of the Agency (the "Representative") who has a legitimate working function in connection with the event for which the credential is issued (the "Event"). The Credential is non-transferable and may be revoked at any time without cause. Any unauthorized use of the Credential or violation of its terms subjects the Representative to ejection from the Event stadium or venue(s), revocation of the Credential and prosecution for criminal and civil trespass and other legal action, and subjects the Agency to revocation of its access to future Events, as the University of California or its affiliates, agents or employees (collectively, the "University of California") determines at its sole discretion.
The Credential (if issued for a media function) authorizes the use by the Agency, solely for news and editorial coverage of the Event, of any descriptions, accounts, photographs, films, audio or video recordings, or drawings of the Event or of any player interviews, press conferences or other stadium activities related to the Event taken, made, created or compiled by the Agency or the Representative while attending the Event (collectively, "Agency Materials"). For the avoidance of doubt, Agency Materials may not be exploited by the Agency at any time for any purpose other than news and editorial use. Any other use or attempted use by the Representative or the Agency, including any distribution of Agency Materials, including any distribution of Agency Materials to third parties for their use (whether before or after the conclusion of the Event, and whether or not for editorial purposes) and any authorization of any third party to redistribute Agency Materials is expressly prohibited, unless the Agency has obtained the advance written permission of the University of California for such other use. As between the Agency, the Representative and the University of California, the University of California is the exclusive owner of all copyrights, trademarks and other proprietary rights in its names, logos and uniformed designs, and in the Event and all materials (in any and all media) related thereto, except for Agency Materials created pursuant to the credential (to the extent they do not incorporate materials owned by the University of California in accordance with the foregoing).
The Agency and Representative further agree that any Agency Materials taking the form of film, video, or digital video recordings ("Video Highlights") may only be used in connection with a regularly scheduled television newscast aired by the Agency within a seven-day period following the Event, and further agree that the use of Video Highlights from the Event in such newscasts shall not exceed three (3) minutes in length. Use of Video Highlights in any other manner or on any media distribution platform without the advanced written permission of the University of California [and Collegiate Images, LLC, where applicable] is expressly prohibited. Any agency wishing to use film or video in any other manner must obtain written permission for such usage from the University of California or [Collegiate Images, LLC, where applicable]. Representative and Agency shall not transmit or display any video, audio, pictures, photographs or other non-text based accounts or descriptions of the Event or any text based accounts or descriptions of the Event (including without limitation, any web log, blog, online journal or other web based publication) in any media while the Event or the live network presentation of the Event is in progress, except with the advance written permission of the University of California.
The Agency and the Representative assume all risks incident to, and hereby release the University of California from, any and all liability arising in connection with, attending the Event and creating and using Agency Materials. The Agency and the Representative agree to indemnify and hold harmless the University of California from and against any and all liability, loss, damage or expense resulting from or arising out of the issuance of the Credential, the Representative's presence in the stadium or venue, or any other activity of the Agency or Representative in connection with the Event, however caused, whether by negligence or otherwise (including without limitation, any claims that Agency Materials infringe the intellectual property rights, publicity rights or other rights of any third party). Attendance at the Event constitutes agreement by the Agency and the Representative to abide by the foregoing conditions.
