CANONSBURG, Pa. – Joël Stalter (73-68 – 141, -1) has made the cut at the Tour’s Mylan Classic after the conclusion of second-round play Friday at the par-71, 6,951-yard Southpointe Golf Club. Stalter is tied for 36th after 36 holes, moving up 41 positions from where he started second-round action by firing three-under par 68 on Friday.

“I’m so happy about it,” Stalter said about being the lone amateur of six in the 144-player field to make the cut at the professional event. “I started so badly yesterday and after the pressure was off I still believed I could make the cut and get it back. I played really solid today and putted very well on my last nine holes, where I could barely breathe. It was very stressful but I made it through and now I can’t wait to have fun this weekend.”

Stalter started his round on the back nine and posted birdies on the par-five 13th and par-four 16th holes to get to two-under for the day and into the red for the first time since midway through his first round Thursday. He picked up another birdie on the par-four second but gave the stroke back with his lone bogey of the round on the par-four sixth before getting it back with his fourth birdie of the day on the par-five eighth.

Homa was nearly one of the 67 players to make the cut after firing a one-under par round of 70 on Friday that was four strokes better than his opening round. Homa also started on the back nine and sandwiched back-to-back birdies on the par-three 14th and par-four 15th with bogeys on the par-three 12th and par-four 16th. He would make par on 10 of his final 11 holes with the lone exception a birdie on the par-four first.

“It was a tough week, but I got a lot of good experience going forward,” Homa said. “Good luck to Joël.”’

Whee Kim (66-65 – 131, -11) has a two-stroke lead after 36 holes.
