BERKELEY – A strong contingent of Golden Bears will represent California at the World University Games, with Cindy Tran, Rachael Acker and alumna Liv Jensen swimming on the U.S. team and Stephanie Au, Camille Cheng and Yvette Kong swimming for Hong Kong. The 27th World University Games run from July 6-17 in Kazan, Russia.

ESPN3.com will broadcast swimming footage starting at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET daily from July 10-16. A complete schedule of events can be found on the World University Games website at kazan2013.ru.

Most of those Bears were part of the squad that won the 2012 NCAA championship; Acker completed her freshman year last season. Jensen – who won her second 50-yard freestyle title at 2012 NCAAs – wrapped up her Cal career with the 2012 national team championship, her third in four years. She is one of five team captains for the entire U.S. squad.

Tran, a two-time NCAA champ in the 100-yard backstroke, earned four All-America honors as a junior in the 2012-13 season, as Cal took second place at NCAAs. Acker, who won the 200-yard freestyle at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships, garnered three All-America honors and one All-America honorable mention last spring. As a sophomore last year, Breed collected one All-America honor and two All-America honorable mentions.

Au, who claimed All-America honorable mention in the 100 back last spring, is a veteran for Hong Kong. A 2008 and 2012 Olympian, she will compete in her second World University Games this summer; she swam in the 2011 version in Shenzen, China.
