BERKELEY - As freshmen, Josh Prenot and Jacob Pebley were outstanding for the 2012-13 Cal men's swimming and diving program under the guidance of head coach David Durden. The two newcomers earned a combined 71 points for the national runner-up Golden Bears at the 2013 NCAA meet. Prenot and Pebley were interviewed together on Swimming World's The Morning Swim Show Prenot and Pebley Interview.
Prenot, who was named the 2013 Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year, broke the Cal school record in the 400 IM at the Georgia Fall Invitational in November, was the Pac-12 champion in the event and then placed fourth at the NCAA championships in March with a time of 3:40.49. He also was fifth in the 200 IM and fifth in the 200 breast at the NCAA meet.
Pebley was a major contributor as well, owning one of the nation's top times in the 200 back for the majority of the year and ended up placing third in the event at the NCAA championships and establishing a new Cal school record with a time of 1:39.71. He was seventh in the the 100 back at the NCAA meet, as well.
