BERKELEY - California men's tennis junior Campbell Johnson and senior Christoffer Konigsfeldt claimed the Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year award and Johnson earned the Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year honor, the conference announced on Tuesday. A transfer from Georgia in his first year as a Golden Bear, Johnson also earned notice as the ITA Northwest Player to Watch.

Konigsfeldt and Johnson paired for the first time this season after Johnson joined the Golden Bears. The pair created quite a duo, posting a 11-7 record together at No. 1 doubles entering the postseason and earning a No. 26 ranking in the most recent ITA poll. The tandem earned the Pac-12's automatic berth in the NCAA doubles tournament that will occur after the NCAA team championship.

Johnson was unanimously voted as the Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year as he posted a 26-12 record prior to NCAAs in dual-match singles play this season. Currently ranked 60th in singles, Johnson has played mainly in the No. 3 spot for California, though he has a 3-0 record at No. 2 singles. In the NCAA team championships Johnson has posted two victories, including the first-round clincher for Cal over No. 33 Florida State. Johnson was also selected to play in the NCAA singles competition later this month.

The Bears continue action in the NCAA team tournament when they play No. 2 Virginia in the NCAA round of 16 on Thursday in Urbana, Ill.
