The California women’s soccer team unveiled its challenging 20-game schedule for 2013 Wednesday, which includes eight home games at Goldman Field plus six televised matches. The campaign also includes seven games vs. 2012 NCAA Tournament teams.
The Pac-12 Networks will broadcast the following Cal matches: vs. St. Mary’s on Sept. 22, vs. Arizona State on Oct. 4, vs. USC on Oct. 11, vs. UCLA on Oct. 13, at Oregon on Oct. 28 and at Stanford on Nov. 6.
The Golden Bears open the season on the road with matches against UC Irvine on Aug. 23 and Pepperdine on Aug. 26. The team returns to Berkeley to host the Cal Invitational, beginning with the home opener vs. Detroit on Aug. 30 followed by San Jose State on Sept. 1.
Cal will make a quick trip across the bay for the San Francisco Tournament, in which the Bears will play Harvard on Sept. 6 and UC Davis on Sept. 8, before returning home for a friendly scrimmage against Cal women’s soccer alumni at the Sept. 15 Alumni Game.
The travel continues with a Sept. 19 game at Santa Clara, then a quick trip home to host Saint Mary’s on Sept. 22 before two road games at Utah on Sept. 27 and San Francisco on Sept. 30. After that, the team will spend the next three weeks in Berkeley for a five-game home stand that includes Arizona State on Oct. 4, Arizona on Oct. 6, USC on Oct. 11, UCLA on Oct. 13 and Colorado on Oct. 18.
The Bears close out the season as road warriors with their final five matches away at Oregon State on Oct. 25, Oregon on Oct. 28, Washington State on Nov. 1, Washington on Nov. 3 and Stanford on Nov. 6.
Cal concluded its 2012 campaign with a 16-6 overall record and 8-3 Pac-12 performance. The Golden Bears advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, finishing at No. 21 in the final NSCAA rankings.
