The Pac-12 recognized Jolene Henderson with her third conference Pitcher of the Week award Monday, giving Henderson career weekly conference honor No. 13 to tie Cal softball star Michele Granger’s program record.
"The entire team played strong this weekend, and we've been rolling with everything thrown at us," Henderson said. "I'm proud to be a part of this team and thankful for all the strong support I get with them behind me."
The senior ace pitched a spectacular .38 ERA through 18.2 innings of work in last week’s games. On Friday, she helped the Golden Bears to a decisive 8-0, run-rule shutout of the Beavers by allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out six. She whiffed another six batters on Saturday in Cal’s 3-1 win, giving up three hits and no walks. She was equally as stingy in Sunday’s performance with another six batters retired, no walks and four hits. Henderson’s weekend ended with a combined 18 strikeouts and just one walk drawn by the Beavers, plus only one earned run.
Henderson also received Pitcher of the Week nods on March12 and March 19. Along with Granger, she ranks third all-time for most honors in the Pac-12 Conference.
UCLA's Stephany LaRosa was named Player of the Week.
