Academic Performance Working Group

July 13, 2012

Since the NCAA began tabulating multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in 2004-05, our football team has generally produced strong results, ranking second in the conference for five consecutive years through the 2008-09 academic term. However, we have not reached our standard the past couple of years and are determined to find a solution. In order to correct this recent trend, we have formed an Academic Performance Working Group comprised of senior department administration, Faculty Athletic Representative Bob Jacobsen, members of the football academic support staff and the entire coaching staff. The goal is to analyze our current academic performance, including our APR scores, and develop strategies for improving our academic performance by all metrics. This includes GPA, APR, graduation rates and ensuring that our football student-athletes have the resources and institutional support necessary to fully succeed in the classroom.
