Varsity Asst./Operations Manager

In his second season at Cal, Kris comes to the program after four and one half years at the University of Iowa. During his tenure at Iowa he served as the coxswain's coach, novice and finally, head coach. Prior to Iowa, Kris was the novice coach at Northwestern University. He enjoyed success at the club level at both programs and is USRowing Level III certified. Coach Muhl began coaching by helping with the Iowa Men's Novice program while still a Varsity Oarsman. After obtaining a B.A. from the University of Iowa in Portuguese and Political Science with minors in Economics and International Business in May of 1997, he moved to Chicago for graduate school. He then accepted a position with Northwestern University as the Novice Men's coach while attending Loyola University's Graduate School of Business where he earned an M.B.A with concentrations in Logistics & Production/Operations Management and International Business. Coach Muhl has also served several summer sessions as a camp counselor at The Northeast Rowing Center. As a camp counselor, Coach Muhl observed many well known collegiate coaches, learning from them on and off the water. He comes to Cal ready to learn from the top collegiate program in the U.S.A. while contributing as an assistant coach and team operations manager.
