Cal Streak Continues; Bears Fall to Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. - Cal finished the regular season with its 12th loss in a row after falling to Arizona State 65-54 in front of 1,033. Both teams had a rough day from the floor, but the Bears shot the worst hitting only 22 of 61 from the floor, and 0 of 13 from three point range. In the second half Cal only hit 31 percent of their shots as Arizona State went on to win by a 11 point margin.

Cal's sophomore center, Jennie Leander, put up 28 points in 38:28 minutes of play, but she got little support from the rest of her team. Leander outscored the rest of her squad 28-26. Leander also grabbed 19 rebounds and registered 2 blocked shots and 3 steals. Other leading scorers for the Bears were Patrycia Czepiec with 10, and Kobie Kennon with 8 points.

The Sundevils got point production from all over the court with four Devils scoring in the double digits. The foursome was led by Tutler with 17 points. Holt chipped in with 14, while Boyle and Lowe scored 12 and 10 points respectively.

The loss ends a dismal 7-21 season for the Bears. However, they are a young squad that returns all but four of this years team, including Leander.
