Enters his senior season as a strong All-America candidate as he possesses what most regard as the strongest leg in college football...once attended legendary punter Ray Guy's punting academy and had Guy marvel at how close his kicking style was to his own...not only impressive physically, but is a superior athlete...has one of the fastest 10-yard dash times on the team with a 1.77 clocking...also ran the pro shuttle in a superb 4.17 time, the second best time on the squad (behind Derek Swafford)...has already been selected as a pre-season first team All-American by Playboy, Football News and The Sporting News... has placed 48 punts inside the 20-yard-line the last two years...tied the Cal record for punts in a season with 77 as a freshmen, then broke the mark in 1998 with 87 kicks and had 85 more last season...has superior athletic skills and is a threat to run or pass from punt formation at any time...is also a strong tackler and contributes well in punt coverage...

1999...coming off a banner junior campaign in which he earned unanimous first team All-Pac-10 honors...led the Pac-10 in punting by over four yards and set a conference record with 3,795 punting yards...finished seventh nationally with a 44.65 yards per punt average...his average is even more amazing when considering he was asked to pooch kick inside opponent territory 14 times last year, including six punts from the opponent 40-yard-line or closer...figures to break the NCAA career record for punts, as he needs just 72 punts this season, and punting yardage, as he needs just 1997 yards this year, to overcome the NCAA career records (held by Cameron Young of TCU with 320 punts and 12,947 yards from 1976-79...Harris has had a punt of at least 47 yards in all 33 games of his career...last year had 29 punts of 50 yards or longer and six of 60 yards or longer...The following are the Harris punts of 50 yards or more last season: Rutgers: 56, 52, 67; Nebraska: 65, 50, 64; ASU: 50, 60, 58; WSU: 52, 50; BYU: 51, 50, 51, 54; UCLA: 50, 57, 58, 68, 60; Washington: 54, 51; USC 53, 57, 52; Oregon State 70, 54; Oregon 51, 54...placed 21 of his 85 punts inside opponents' 20-yard-line and has 56 punts inside the opponent 20 during his career...had several big games last year, but most impressive had to be at UCLA when he had seven punts for 372 yards (53.1 ypp), booming one for 68 yards and placing one 60-yard punt down at the Bruin 2-yard-line and another 50-yard punt at the UCLA 9-yard-line without returns...earned Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week honors for that performance...had a career long 70-yard punt at Oregon State, tied for the eighth longest in Cal history...

1998...averaged 40.8 yards per punt on 87 kicks, breaking the school mark of 77 he shared with Mike Ahr (1981)...placed 27 punts inside the 20-yard-line (31.0 percent), with only five touchbacks, including five which were downed inside the opponent's 5-yard-line...totaled 16 punts of 50 yards or longer for the year, including three against both Arizona and Stanford...was named the Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance vs. UCLA when he had 9 punts for a 45.1 ypp average and had four punts downed inside the Bruin 10-yard-line, including one at the 2-yard-line and one at the 1-yard-line...long punt was a 63-yarder vs. Arizona...his 11 punts in the season-opener against Houston were the high for a punter in the Pac-10 in 1998...averaged a season-high 47.7 ypp on seven punts at Arizona State...
