1998: made a strong contribution in his first year in the program, serving as Pete Destefano's back-up at free safety ... started a pair of games (Washington State and USC) when Destefano was out with a knee injury ... had an impact in both starts as he made one interception and had a pass deflection vs. the Cougars and recorded five tackles and returned a fumble 40 yards to the Trojan 37-yard-line late in the third quarter to set up a Cal touchdown at USC ... finished the year with 15 tackles, including eight unassisted stops.
