Cal Spring Football Experience a Big Success

Gold tops Blue, 21-20, in front of 8,812 enthusiastic fans at Edwards Stadium.

CAL CAREER: Will be eligible to play in 2013 after sitting out the 2012 season due to transfer rules.

2012: Transferred to Cal and joined the team as a walk-on for spring workouts ... made both of his field goal attempts from 47 and 41 yards, as well as his lone extra-point try in the spring game for the winning Gold squad.

CAL POLY: Played in all 11 games as the starting placekicker during his 2011 sophomore season, scoring a kicker school-record 86 points and leading the Great West Conference in scoring during league action ... ranked third nationally in field goal percentage, eighth in scoring and 12th in field goals made in the Football College Subdivision (FCS) as a sophomore ... also led the GWC in conference play in field goal percentage, field goals made and PAT kicking percentage in his sophomore campaign, hitting on a school-record 15-of-20 field goals attempts and 41-of-42 on extra points ... made a career-high-tying three field goals both at Montana and North Dakota, including a career-long 50-yarder in front of the third-biggest crowd in Montana football history and a 48-yarder at North Dakota, adding two extra points in each game to equal a career-best 11 points ... also had 11 points vs. South Alabama ... converted a 49-yarder against Central Oklahoma ... hit pressure kicks with a 39-yard field goal in the last minute of play against South Dakota to give Cal Poly a share of the GWS title, and a 37-yard field goal overtime kick to tie the game, and force more overtime, against reigning FCS national champion Eastern Washington ... twice named the College Football Performance Awards FCS National Placekicker of the Week for his performances against Montana and North Dakota, adding GWC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the game against South Dakota ... averaged 65.4 yards per kickoff and had nine touchbacks as a 2010 freshman to rank 11th nationally, playing in all 11 games ... started 2010 freshman season as a kickoff specialist and long-range placekicker before winning the starting placekicking job later in the campaign ... made all 19 of his PAT attempts as well as a 21-yard field goal vs. South Dakota as a freshman ... a member of the GWC All-Academic squad.

FOOTHILL HS: Had 44 touchbacks in 51 kickoffs, made 8-of-12 field goals, including four of 40 or more yards, and all 44 of his extra-point tries for 68 points as a 2009 senior to earn first-team Bay Area News Group All-East Bay and All-East Bay Athletic League honors, as well as third-team Cal-Hi Sports All-State recognition ... kicked a 57-yard field goal in the waning moments of regulation to force overtime at The Holiday Classic All-Star Game played at Grant High School in Sacramento following his senior campaign ... ranked first in the state of California and eighth nationally in 2009 on Ray Guy's Prokicker.com ... earned All-EBAL honors as a 2008 junior after making 5-of-6 field goals, including a 42-yarder that was the longest field goal in the EBAL that season ... was 32-of-34 on extra points during his junior campaign to total 47 points ... tied for first in the 2010 national Chris Sailer Kicking field goal competition in Las Vegas for high school seniors and junior college kickers ... garnered a five-star rating by Sailer in 2009 and 2010, when Sailer commented that Langford had "possibly the strongest leg in the nation" ... kickoff champion and field goal finalist at a Cal football camp in June of 2009 ... also spent three seasons on the track and field squad, as well as two playing soccer ... a six-time All-American in youth track and field, including winning USA National silver and bronze medals in the 1,500 and 3,000 meter races in the USA Junior Olympic Championship National Finals ... has a decorated soccer background.
