An excellent coverage player who rates as one of the most experienced cornerbacks in the Pac-10 with 23 career starts over the past three seasons...has gained almost 25 pounds since he arrived at Cal, greatly increasing his strength...only 5-9, but can dunk a basketball, which gives a good indication of his athletic ability...appears to be in the best health and top physical shape of his college career, portending a big senior campaign...is an elusive runner with the ball in his hands and may be able to display his skills as a return specialist this fall...

1999...coming off a solid junior season in which he pulled down honorable mention Pac-10 honors...started 10 of 11 games in '99, missing the WSU game with a sprained ankle...ended the season with nine pass deflections, second only to Deltha O'Neal...also had 50 tackles in 1999, including 40 unassisted tackles...had a pair of interceptions, one each vs. UCLA and Oregon...best game may have been at UCLA when he had four unassisted tackles, one pass interception which stopped a UCLA threat and three pass deflections...served as Cal's punt returner in the second half of the Rutgers game when O'Neal suffered a sprained thumb...had three returns for 46 yards, including a career best 20-yarder, vs. Rutgers and ranked 15th nationally with a 15.3 ypr average after that game...

1997...improved steadily throughout his freshman season, getting his first start vs. Oregon State and was also in the lineup in the season finale at Stanford...notched a season-high nine tackles, including one unassisted stop, against the Cardinal...also recorded five tackles at Washington State and four tackles vs. both Houston and Arizona State...ended up seeing playing time in all 11 games for the Bears in '97 and closed the season with a total of 32 tackles (six unassisted) and four pass deflections...
