100th Big Game Notes

Cal's oponents have scored first in nine of the Bears 11 games this season. The only contests in which Cal scored first were versus Oregon State and Washington State.

Matt Beck's block on Kevin Miller's second extra point attempt was the first PAT block of the season for Cal.

Deltha O'Neal 55-yard second quarter punt return was the longest of the season for Cal. The previous longest was an 18-yarder against Louisiana Tech on Oct. 4.

Ignacio Brache's 46-yard field goal to close out the second half and cut the Cardinal lead to 21-10 was the longest of his career. His previous long of 40 yards came earlier this season on Oct. 25 at UCLA. Brache has now connected on 6-of-10 field goal attempts this season.

Bobby Shaw finished his illustrious career in fitting fashion as he caught a touchdown pass to pull Cal to within 21-18 with just over four minutes left in the game. With 6 catches for 50 yards, he ended his career with 180 receptions, the fourth best total in Pac-10 history. He also ended his Cal career with 2,731 yards, the second best total in conference history.

Quarterback Justin Vedder, with 232 yards this afternoon, ended the season with 2718 passing yeards on the season, the fourth best single-season total in Cal history in that category. He also ended the season with 2743 yards in total offense, which is the third best all-time at Cal.

The Cal defense held Stanford to 240 yards of total offense which is its third best defensive effort of the season. In the season opener at Houston on Sept. 6, Cal limited the Cougars to a season-low 165 total yards while Oregon State was held to 207 on Nov.1.
